Hi my boyfriend and I are looking to adopt a dog from a shelter. However he is allergic to a lot of pet dander. Growing up he had a shih tzu and was around my families havanese so we know those type of dogs don’t bother him.

A lot of the places we have looked only have dogs that shed – a lot! So I was wondering if there is a certain way to find a “non shedding” dog in a shelter – WE REFUSE TO PURCHASE FROM A PET STORE! We will only rescue a doggie.

Also I have used pet finder and googled shelters in Dayton, Oh but no dogs that fit what we need are there…. are there any other shelters or organization in our area that we have over looked??? thanks :)
I know that all dogs technically shed… thats why i put the word non in quotations.

He is allergic to the kinds of dogs that shed the way labs or chow chow’s or pugs shed.

He is not allergic to the way lassa, Bichon Frise, Yorkshire Terrier, and Cockapoo’s.
