Question by Mr. Jeff – It is what it is ?: Do you put “dog walking” under “Interest” on a resume?
A neighbor of mine helped me revamp my resume. She had told me to add “dog walking” under the “interest” category just in case some employer may also be a dog lover and would call me in for an interview.

I love to work retail and that may work for a pet store position but for a regular department store position would that be appropriate?

Answer by Dogmom CADoes not seem relevant to me. I don’t put Dog Trainer on my Nursing resume, because it’s pretty irrelevant. Unless you do it professionally, and are using those references, it’s not applicable.

From January 3-17, 2006, I went (along with 37 others from my college) to Biloxi, Mississippi to help with Hurricane Katrina Relief. We worked with an awesome organization that was then known as "Hands On USA" (they have since changed their name to "Hands On Gulf Coast").

Every day we had several different options of what we could do for that day (i.e. street clean up, gutting houses, mold crew, etc.). One of the options was to help out at the local humane society by exercising (walking) the dogs. I chose this option on one of my days – and I LOVED it!
