I found a lump on one of my cats and the lump was between her shoulder blades. My veterinarian removed the lump and sent it off to have a biopsy done on it. The results came back as “fibrosarcoma with clean margins”. I know cats can get these lumps after certain vaccinations but she hasn’t received one in that area since 2009. I’m really worried about her and she’s miserable because she was sent home with one of those cone collars on.

yes, typically these tumors won’t come back, however you should still watch your cat just in case it does, this could mean something more serious, like cancer, is going on.

It means they got all the cancer and the area taken around the lump is free of tumor. Hopefully it is good news for you and your cat. Ask the vet if any follow up is needed
The vaccine related fibrosarcoma can occur a few months to years after the vaccine
clean margins is a very good thing. it could have come from the vaccinations. the collar is not something any animal likes. give her plenty of attention and love. they are keeping that on so she doesnt get the stitches out accidentally when she is likcking and chewing herself.
Yes it means that the cancer hasn’t spread further as it had clean margins,so hasn’t gone beyond those clean margins so is good news for your cat,but i am sure the vet will want to check up to be sure that all is well,as for the collar cats hate them but at times must keep it on,if it is scraping the scruff of the neck near wound then only remove it if your cat is supervised,but try to leave it on is best in the long run and try to distract with cuddles.

I just got through reading and article on the web called fibrosarcoma for cats, I think if you look that up and read it, it will tell you everything you want to know. Besides that it would save me a whole lot of typing. Hope your kitty gets well.
